Title : Student Success Coach

Reports to: Campus Director/ Pilot Director

Position type : 12 month position (Exempt)

Position Summary

The Student Success Coach provides assistance to students, individually and in groups through analyzing data to identify and resolve potential graduation problems, including core course completions, state required assessments, grade point average, college and career planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and report on the graduation progress of individual and subpopulations of students.

  • Communicate regularly with parents of students identified as at risk of not meeting graduation requirements.

  • Develop partnerships with community colleges and other organizations in support of the District Strategic Plan and identified graduation goals.

  • Develop and implement individual intervention and dropout prevention strategies, and graduation plans.

  • Provide and/or submit activity reports as scheduled and requested.

  • Support NBHS by attending community service and outreach activities throughout the year.

  • Communicate with customers, parents and staff to design an individual student academic progress plan.

  • Participates in the Retention Check In (RCI) process.

  • Provide excellent customer service.

  • Work directly with the Campus Director and Director of Campus and Community Engagement on matters of assessment and academic progress.

  • Formulate proposals for the development and revision of school policies.

  • Track and analyze current trends in education; and report its potential impact on the school.

  • Engage in professional development opportunities that improve personal professional practice and align with the needs of the organization.

  • Support school Mission by assisting with home visits.

  • Conduct annual review and propose appropriate updates to the Student Success Coach Reference & Procedures Manual.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

  • Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate (preferred)

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with secondary youth (grades 6-12)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Background check and fingerprinting clearance

  • Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment

  • Knowledge of applicable computer software and hardware process applications such as spreadsheets, word-processing, database and operating systems, and/or presentation software

  • Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and valid automobile insurance

Able to demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. Desire to serve students in an above and beyond mentality. Periodically checks emails and phone messages after hours and on the weekend. Urgent work-related email and phone messages should be answered after 1-2 hours of receipt.

Physical Environment

Requires working indoors in an environmentally controlled office setting. Requires sitting for the majority of the day. Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 20% walking and 40% standing. Hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to read, prepare, and proofread documents; sitting for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects. The ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 50 pounds. This position serves multiple locations and requires travel.
