Dental Hygienist Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced dental hygienist who will treat our patients in a caring and professional manner. Patients are given full hour appointments to allow for x-rays, probing, a thorough hygiene visit and exam. Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough and comprehensive oral evaluations to identify dental conditions and oral health issues.
2. Perform routine dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments.
3. Obtain and review patients' medical histories, noting any pre-existing conditions or allergies that may affect dental treatments.
4. Take dental x-rays as needed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols.
5. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide oral care instructions.
6. Detect and report any signs of oral diseases, such as cavities, gingivitis, or oral cancer.
7. Apply preventative measures, such as dental sealants or fluorides, to protect patients' teeth.
8. Collaborate with dentists to develop individualized treatment plans for patients' oral care needs.
9. Maintain and sterilize dental instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
10. Document patients' dental care by accurately recording all treatments, diagnoses, and recommendations in their charts.
11. Assist with scheduling patients' follow-up appointments and communicate treatment plans effectively.
Requirements:
1. Valid Dental Hygienist license/certification from an accredited dental hygiene program.
2. Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist, with a strong understanding of oral health and dental procedures.
3. Knowledge of dental instruments and equipment, and ability to accurately operate and maintain them.
4. Proficiency in taking dental x-rays.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate and communicate with patients.
6. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
7. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
8. Commitment to following infection control protocols and maintaining a safe work environment.
